Health Referral Scheme

Existing members are encouraged to seek the support of our fitness teams, who are available to offer you specialist advice and guidance.
This programme is suitable for pregnant women and will allow access to the Healthy Mums timetable of specialist sessions.
Your Health Referral Scheme membership will continue for as long as you wish to remain a member. You will continue to be supported by the fitness teams, who will help you reach your goals.
Yes, should you need extra support, you are able to register a carer to attend your sessions with you.
You can access the scheme at any BPL venue in Barnsley, which includes:
  • Dearneside Leisure Centre
  • Dorothy Hyman Sports Centre
  • Hoyland Leisure Centre
  • The Metrodome Leisure Complex
  • Royston Leisure Centre
  • Free consultation and health check
  • Personalised initial 12-week plan with regular follow ups afterwards with your fitness team
  • Unlimited access to gym, swim, and group exercise sessions at any BPL venue in Barnsley
  • 12 weeks of free access to the home workout online portal, Your Space at Home
  • Free consultation and health check.

As there is no funding for this programme, there is a cost to attend, which differs depending on which centre you wish to use. The membership has no joining fee or minimum term contract.

  •  Controlled Type II Diabetes
  •  Fibromyalgia
  •  High Cholesterol
  •  Long Covid
  •  Mild Anxiety
  •  Mild Cognitive Impairment
  •  Mild Depression
  •  Mild Hypertension
  •  Mild Osteoarthritis
  •  Mild Osteoporosis
  •  Mild Rheumatoid Arthritis
  •  Musculoskeletal (pain / injury)
  •  Obesity (BMI 30+)
  •  Overweight (BMI 25-29.9)
  •  Simple Mechanical Back Pain
  •  Stress
For this scheme we are unable to accept anyone with any heart disease/conditions/events or COPD.

Healthy Mums Timetable

Please find the timetable here. This runs from September 2024 to March 2025 with some classes commencing in November 2024.
For any new parent or carer with a pushchair/pram of all abilities. Children must be pre walkers. Partners welcome.
4 Months.
These classes are free.
Simply email Info@letsgetgoing.co.uk and ask for a registration form. You will then be sent confirmation of your booking.
1 hour of fun and friendly physical activity alongside some basic nutrition advice. All family members are welcome
Healthy Mums program has a range of free activities for pre and post-natal Barnsley Mums and Young Families. The timetable includes health, fitness and well-being activities to help you get going.
